Red Ribbon Week

October 23, 2014 - October 30, 2014

The purpose of the Red Ribbon Campaign is to present a visible commitment to a safe, healthy and drug-free lifestyle. The campaign is designed to accomplish the following:

  • to create awareness concerning the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs
  • to support the decision to live a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

Theme Days:

  • Thursday, October 23rd: “Hair’s to a Drug Free Life”- Come with your craziest hair-do.
  • Monday, October 27th: “Sock it to Drugs!” Day- Wear the funniest, funkiest, silliest socks you can find.
  • Tuesday, October 28th: “Drugs are Shady!” Day- Wear your favorite sunglasses.
  • Wednesday, October 29th: “I Mustache You Not to Do Drugs Day”- Wear a mustache.
  • Thursday October 30th: “Kick Out Drugs” – Wear your favorite football or soccer jersey and/or pair of high heel shoes.

Contests:

  • Poster Contest- Make a poster with an anti-drug or anti-bullying message. Posters can be done by individuals or in groups. (These projects must be completed at home/ after school.
  • Theme Song Contest- Print the lyrics to a song with a positive message, an anti-drug message, or an anti-bullying message. Write a brief paragraph indicating why you think this song should be the theme song for Red Ribbon Week.
  • Contest winners will earn a prize!
