I want the students to come away from my program with an appreciation for the arts.   Art came into my life fairly late in my educational career. I did not have art class in elementary and middle school. I took my first art class in high school at Saint Vincent’s Academy. I realized then that I had some artistic talent. I fell in love with art in High School.  It wasn’t until I took an Art History class at Armstrong, that I realized I wanted to pursue Art as a career. I loved working with children, too. A career in Art education was a way for me to foster my love for art and children at the same time.  I want to give my students the opportunity to learn about art that I did not have. There are students that struggle academically, but excel in art. Art can be an outlet for these students. It gives them an opportunity to shine and boosts self confidence in the process.”
