Mrs. Helena Russell obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education/Art Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University. She has been teaching art at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic School for 25 years. Mrs. Russell uses a Discipline Based Art Education approach in teaching art. This approach emphasizes the elements and principles of design through art criticism, art history, art production, and aesthetics. She has two children, both of whom are graduates of St. Peter’s. Mrs. Russell loves the beach, reading, movies, music, photography and painting. And, for the record, she is a HUGE Elvis fan!

Mrs. Portman has 20 years of experience in education, 18 of at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic School. Mrs. Portman majored in Music and Voice at M. Frances Jenny School of Music. She currently teaches Spanish to students from PreK through 8th grade. Mrs. Portman is married and the proud mother of two sons, both of whom are graduates of SPA. Her hobbies include gardening, cooking and baking.

Mr. Sean Sherwood

Mr. Sherwood obtained a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master of Science in Sports Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. He worked for Western Kentucky University for eleven years, eight years as the Intramural Coordinator and was the Assistant Director of Programs for three years. He has overseen intramural programs, sport clubs, outdoor adventure trips, challenge course programs and facilities, youth summer day camps, and a sports complex. At WKU, Mr. Sherwood taught University Experience for five years and Disc Golf for three. He was also a Kentucky High School football and basketball official. Mr. Sherwood is married to Margaret and they have three boys who all attend St. Peter the Apostle School. On his free time, he enjoys hanging out with his family

Mr. Gregory Scott

Mr. Gregory Scott is the Middle School Social Studies and Physical Science teacher, as well as the K-8 Computer Science teacher. Mr. Scott is a Savannah native and graduated from Armstrong State University with a BA and an MA in history and Georgia Southern University with a BS in mechanical engineering. He is passionate about the history of science and science education and believes that it is essential for educators to explain how science and faith relate to and illuminate one another. Mr. Scott has spent years as a math tutor and teaching college history and has also taught 6th grade social studies.
When he is not teaching or tutoring, Mr. Scott spends his time with his daughter, Leila. He also loves playing trivia, hiking, reading, and jazz.
