Student Highlights

2011-12 Remarkable Rams:

• January 20, 2012 - Kaitlin S. and Spencer F. are the 2012 SPA Oratorical Contest winners! Congratulations! They now proceed to the citywide "Southwest Optimist Club" annual competition!
• January 10, 2012 - Our sweet 4th graders sent cards and necessary items (beans, rice, toilet paper, etc.) & the Hickey family also sent many pounds of freshly caught fish to the Carmelite Sisters out at Coffee Bluff. The Sisters were so very grateful!
• January 7, 2012 - We are so very proud of the St. Peter the Apostle Robotics Team! After a grueling day of competition in Warner Robbins on January 7, 2012, they just missed going to state by one place! Heartbreaking for this fantastic team of young engineers! Your futures are so very bright! Thank you Mrs. Wood for EVERYTHING!
• December 23, 2011 - The Children of St. Peter the Apostle School donated $649 to Savannah's Empty Stocking Fund.
• December 15, 2011 - Congratulations to Ryan D. who won honorable mention in the Serra Club's Vocation Essay Contest. You can read Ryan's essay in the upcoming Southern Cross.
• December 12, 2011 - 6th grade student Elizabeth Sevier was chosen as the Savannah Honored Hero for the CCFA walk here in Savannah. Elizabeth's team has raised a total of $2694. We are so proud of Elizabeth! For more info. please go to www.ccfa.org.
• December 9, 2011 - St. Peter's 6th Grade Girls are champs of the BSS Tom Butler Christmas Basketball Tournament December 9, 2011
• December 3, 2011 - St. Peter's first ever Lego League Robotics Team places 4th in area competition. Headed to Super Regionals in January 2012!
• December 2, 2010 - Drew T. wins "Best of Fair" at The St. Peter the Apostle Science Fair. He and 5 others advance to the regional fair! Congratulations!
• November 5, 2011 - 8th Grade Student Sara Kathryn B. completed the Rock & Roll Half Marathon with a time of 2:05:47! Way to go!
• November 4, 2011 - On the afternoon of November 4th, St. Peter the Apostle inducted 2 students into the National Junior Honor Society. Congratulations Mary Catherine T. and Spencer F.
• October 24, 2011 - Way to go Elizabeth H., making a difference for doggies and Savannahians! We are proud of you! Read about it HERE!
• October 24, 2011 - Congratulations to the 6th Grade Rams on winning the S.P.A.L.Volleyball Championship!
• October 23, 2011 - Our 7th and 8th graders, along with over 350 other Catholic Middle Schoolers attended the first ever: "Confirmation Spectacular" held here at SPA!
• October 13, 2011 - A team of 6th, 7th,8th graders from St Peter the Apostle participated in the First Catholic School Academic Bowl at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, St. Simons Island last Thursday, October 13, 2011. St. Peter's placed 3rd in the overall competition competing against The catholic Schools of the Savannah Deanery.
• September 10, 2011 - Congratulations to the Varsity Rams on winning the St. Vincent's Volleyball Tournament!

2010-11 Remarkable Rams:

• Congratulations to Jameson and Caroline Burke! Fabulous performances in Tybee Island's production of "The Wizard of Oz" July 2011. We are proud of our Rams!
• Congratulations to Chloe Sells - 2011 YMCA National Gymnastics Champion! Rising SPA 3rd grader Chloe competed at the United States YMCA National Gymnastics Championships June 23-25, 2011 in Toledo, Ohio. Winning first place in Vault, Beam and Bar - Chloe went on to become the All Around Level 3, Junior Champion! Way to "ROCK THE GYM" Chloe! We are so proud of our little Ram!
• May 9, 2011: Posted on wtoc.com - May 9, 2011 The entire student body at St. Peter the Apostle School hosted their own Relay for Life event. Each class picked a time and hit the pavement for one lap and then all of the students walked the final "survivors lap". O'Brien Field was surrounded with banners and posters that students created in honor of loved ones.
• May 1, 2011 - Students began Novena to Blessed John Paul for all of our special mothers at Saint Peter the Apostle who are, or have been, fighting serious illness.
• April 20, 2011 - Students created and donated over 70 Angel Boxes for "Friends of Forsyth Park"
• April 18, 2011 - Students donated over 500 flowering plants for upper school in honor of Earth Day 2011.
• April 2, 2011 - Two St. Peter's 7th Graders placed Third in their respective categories at the 2011 Georgia Science and Engineering Fair held at the Athens Classic Center March 31-April 2.

• March 14, 2011 - The St. Peter's Math Team competed in their first Competition  Monday, March 14th! Congratulations Mathletes!
• February 12, 2011 - The St. Peter the Apostle Odyssey of the Mind team led by Mrs. Sallie Boyles competed at Southwest Middle School on Sat. February 12, 2011. Great Job Rams!
• February 3, 2011: SPA celebrated Catholic Schools Week by giving back to the community through their annual SOCCKS Program (Serving Our Community Catholic Kids Style). • February 2, 2011 - On the afternoon of February 2nd, St. Peter the Apostle inducted 17 students into the National Junior Honor Society.
• January 31, 2011: Congratulations to the K of C Islands Council 2011 Free Throw Champions: 10 year olds Will D. & Megan V., 11 year olds Cooper M. & Addie B., 12 year olds Garrett D.& Mary Catherine T., 13 year olds John S. & Katie B. and 14 year old Ari A.. Winners shoot in the District Championship on Feb 27th for a chance to travel to Atlanta and shoot for the state title in Philips Arena.

• December 6, 2010 - Will B. wins "Best of Fair" at The St. Peter the Apostle Science Fair.
• November 4, 2010 - St. Peter's Varsity Football completed an undefeated season, and secured the SPAL championship!
• October 28, 2010 - Both the girls and boys SPA Cross Country teams placed First at the SAS meet, Thursday, October 28th.
• October 21, 2010 - Congratulations to the Varsity Rams on winning the S.P.A.L.Volleyball Championship!

2009-10 Remarkable Rams:

• St. Peter's 7th grader Maddie L., competed May 1st in the Optimist Club Oratorical State Competition. She won 1st place in the Girls Division! She received a plaque and a $2500 college scholarship. She did a fantastic job and we are so proud of her.
• The 16th March of Dimes 5K Shamrock Run & Fitness Walk was held on Friday, March 12, 2010.  Saint Peter the Apostle school had several participants, both students and teachers alike.  We would like to recognize our teachers Stacie Paul, Christa Nathe and Megan McGreevy. Ms. McGreevy finished the race in 20:30 and came in second for females in her age group. Didn't we tell you students that the "Teachers Rule"!

  Reminder that Susan Kohmen Race for the Cure is being run on April 17th! Go Rams!
• Since 1972, councils have sponsored the Knights of Columbus International Free Throw Championship for boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 14. The championship is set up to have the contestants compete within their own gender and age group. All competition starts at the local level. Winners move on to the district, regional, and state levels.
  This year Saint Peter the Apostle sent five students to compete at the State Level:
  Anna P. - 5th grader/ Girls 10U. She made 8 out of 25 baskets.
  Drew T. - 5th grade/ Boys 10u. He made 19 of 25 baskets and took 4th in the State for his age group.
  Madison P. - 6th grade/ Girls 11U. She made 12 of 25 baskets.
  John S. - 7th grade Boys/ 12U. He made 14 of 25 baskets and placed 4th in the State for his age division.
  Stevie P. - 7th grade Boys/ 13U. Stevie made 19 of 25 baskets and WON first place for the second year in a row. State Champion!
• At the Savannah Ogeechee Regional Science & Engineering Fair February 9-11, Joshua J. won first place in the category of Electrical amd Mechanical Engineering, and Thomas S., took second place in the Medical and Health Sciences Category.
• Colin C. received 2nd place in the boys 9 & under division of theCritz/Tybee 5k run on 2-6-2010. Way to go Colin!
• Maddie L. won first place at the Southside Optimist Competition on Feb. 6 and will continue on to the next division!
• Twelve seventh and eighth graders participated in our annual oratorical competition. Ari A. and Maddie L. won first place, and they will represent St. Peter's at the Southside Optimist Competition on Feb. 6.
• SPA second grader, Sadie G. won 1st place in her age group in the Savannah Bridge Run on Dec. 5th with a time of 26:07 for the 5K!
• After 5 rounds of competition, seventh grader, Jack M. won the National Geographic School Level Geography Bee. Jack will take a written test to determine if he will advance to the state geography bee in March.
