The Holy Season of Lent

The Holy Season of Lent

ASH WEDNESDAY The beginning of the Holy Season of Lent is on Wednesday, February 22nd. This is one of the two days of the year when Catholics are obligated to observe the laws of fast and abstinence. The Mass times that day will be 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Please make every effort to attend with your family.

SPECIAL COLLECTION The collection on Ash Wednesday is for Aid to Eastern Europe. Please respond generously.

LENTEN SERVICES On the Fridays of Lent, we will have Stations of the Cross at 2:15 p.m. and Stations of the Cross and Benediction at 7:00 p.m. Because of school being out, there will be no 2:15 p.m. Stations of the Cross on March 16th and March 23rd.

LENTEN REGULATIONS Catholics who are over the age of 18 and under the age of 60 are required to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, which means that they can eat only one complete meal and two smaller meals during the day, with no food in between. Catholics who are over the age of 14 are required to refrain from eating any meat, or any food made with meat, on
Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays during Lent.

PARISH LENTEN PENANCE SERVICE will be held on Tuesday, March 20th at 7:00 p.m. There will be a number of priests available to hear confessions that evening. Please make an effort to attend and prepare yourself spiritually for Easter.
