Sr. Roberta's March Message
Service - "Like good stewards of the grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received."
The theme for the month of March is SERVICE . Service is defined as helping others without counting the cost, without looking for a material reward.
In the world of today, our young people are living in a rather "me" centered society. Consequently the idea of service can be very challenging. It is for this reason that the students and teachers in our school have been concentrating on this theme of Service. During Catholic Schools Week all of our students sponsored special projects to help people in our community. We will continue to focus on this theme of service during Lent. The students and faculty will spend time talking about the meaning of service and then plan some activities to experience this virtue. One of the areas that we are exploring is the orphans in my Community's mission school in Rwanda , Africa.
How does your family experience service? How do you serve one another? How do you serve others beyond your immediate family?
As a family, select a service project to do for Lent. What can you do as a family to be of service in your parish, in your community, in your neighborhood? And finally, what can each member of the family do to be of service to the others within the family? It might be as simple as doing assigned tasks without complaining. As you carry out this mission of service, remember that in doing this you are using the gifts that God has given to you.
Some scriptures that could be used for reflection are: Matt. 20:26-28, Romans 12:6-8, and Phil. 2:1-11.
God bless you as you willingly serve one another.
Sr. Roberta
