Curriculum

"SPA offers your child many opportunities to learn so that he will grow to be an independent thinker and work at a level appropriate for his age and capabilities."

  • Learning Centers: The classroom is organized into interest areas or learning centers. These areas include: Language arts/ books, writing and listening, math, science, table games, blocks, dramatic play, and art.
  • Technology: All of the classrooms at SPA are equipped with computers and SmartBoards, including Pre-Kindergarten.
  • Spanish: Senora Portman, the Spanish instructor for SPA, uses singing and interactive play to teach Spanish to her youngest students.
  • Art: Students get creative (and messy) working with everything from paint, to clay, to shaving cream.
  • Music: Singing, playing instruments and listening to different types of music are part of the daily curriculum.
  • P.E.: In addition to daily playground time, students have an organized P.E. class in the school's gym or outside once a week.
  • Religion: Learning to understand and cherish the Catholic faith is part of the religious enrichment provided by SPA. Values of respect, love, kindness and forgiveness are incorporated throughout all activities and interactions.
(Each child is paired with a Prayer Partner; an upper school SPA student who works, plays and spends quality time with their Pre-Kindergartener.)
