St. Peter the Apostle School library media center supports and enriches the school curriculum with an exciting collection of materials that meets the needs of the students and faculty it serves.

In Our Library:

  • An exciting collection of over 9000 books, which is weeded and updated each year.
  • A Magazine Corner - with National Geographic for Kids, National Geographic World, Discover for Kids, Time for Kids, Georgia, Scholastic News, and Sports Illustrated for Kids.
  • Networked Computer
  • Accelerated Reader quizzes and Literary Skills tests in the Computer Lab
  • Britannica Online

Library Programs:

  • Dr. Seuss Day in February.

General information:

    Library time is a scheduled time for each grade.
  • K-4 have Library skills classes to support the reference/research curriculum for their grade levels. These skills include alphabetizing to the third letter, parts of a book, use of the dictionary, atlas, and encyclopedia.
  • Kindergarten has story time and becomes familiar with the Library during the first semester. Beginning in March, they are taught the procedure for checking out books.
    Library Visits:
  • Students in K-8 have regularly scheduled visits. Books may be checked out during this visits.
  • Extra time is scheduled by class teachers if they need to bring in their students for research.
  • Students may use the Library for research or book check-out at any time with the permission of their teacher and the Library Staff.
  • As long as the center is free, students are welcome to wander in and browse, relax and read.

Library Support:

  • Book Fair: Our Book Fair is in October. Please do all you can to make this a success, as proceeds from the Fair goes towards the media center fund. Funds from this year helped us with a purchase of a remote scanner for the library books.
  • Box Tops for Education: Box Tops for Education® offers easy ways to earn cash for our school library through everyday activities: buying groceries (10¢ for each label), shopping online at your favorite online retailer(up to 15%) and buying books online through the Reading Room (up to 6%) – all at no additional cost to you.
